I have hunted and packed in Idaho Wilderness areas since 1979. Currently, I hunt or take pack trips 2 to 3 months annually. I field tested the canvas tents and pack saddles and used many pack equipment items that we sell. Recommendation: Insure that you have guy ropes/side ropes on new canvas tents when it rains/snows to insure it shrinks evenly for the normal 1-3% shrinkage. Otherwise your canvas tent may shrink unevenly and may not fit your internal frame properly.

PACKING TIPS

Packing a rolled up canvas tent as a top pack usually results in a wreck. The rolled canvas tent will likely roll to one side causing the pack saddle to slide down on that side.

My recommendation is to fold canvas tents in a rectangle shape, tie it appropriately to maintain rectangle shape or place it in a custom rectangle canvas tent bag.

Place the rectangle folded canvas tent over the pack saddle shop as a top pack and secure it with a lash cinch
