Wall tent frames are very strong and can withstand snow loads and high winds, especially steel wall tent frames.

Internal wall tent frame. Galvanized steel wall tent frames or aluminum tent frames are normally used by individuals camping near a road. Additionally, aluminum tent frames can be easily horse or ATV packed. You can purchase an angle kit and easily make your own frame. You can purchase 1" electrical conduit at a local hardware store. The angle kit costs and your purchase of 1" conduit is much cheaper than purchasing and shipping an entire tent frame.

ANGLE KITS. Click Wall Tent Shop for information and prices on angle kits and A-frames. Angle kits are recommended if you are trying to save money on purchasing a frame. You can purschase my angle kit then buy electrical steel 1" inside diameter at your local hardware store to complete the frame.

Big savings in purchasing an angle kit instead of a frame due to expensive shipping cost of a steel frame.

ANGLE KIT

From my experience, living in a tent 4-6 weeks a year, an internal wall tent frame is the easiest and quickest frame to assemble, and most importantly, provides the most support for your tent roof.

My Kwik Kamp wall tent frames are normally 2 to 3 weeks behind in shipping because Kwik Kamp is a nationally recognized brand.

My Hunter steel internal tent frames can be shipped within 1 week if required. Hunter frames are less expensive than Kwik Kamp, but not quite as strong, and will withstand signficant snow loads.

Aluminum wall tent frames are available from Kwik Kamp or Lightweight Aluminum tent frame. Lightweight Aluminum will ship 3 to 6 days after tent is made or after receiving tent measurments. Lightweight Aluminum frames are less expensive than Kwik Kamp but are not quite as strong, but will withstand snow loads.

Tent frames and angle kits also available from Montana Canvas for individuals purchasing Montana Canvas tents and Blend wall tents.

Frames for new wall tents are reduced 2% to allow for canvas shrinkage.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1. Aluminum tent frame: Kwik Kamp alumium frames are recommended for tents 14x16 and larger due to their extra strength and minimum price difference compared to the lightweight aluminum frame. Lightweight aluminum tent frame is acceptable for 12x18 tents and smaller when weight of frame is important.
2. Insure you set up your frame and Montana tent at home before your trip. 1-2% of the time, a frame rafter or a tent length may require 1- or 2 inches cut off. If for some reason, you can't set up your tent prior to your departure take a pipe cutter or hack saw with you to make adjustments if required.

3 rafter wall tent frames are not recommeded for any tent longer than 12'. I recommend a rafter space of no greater than 6'. Distance between rafters greater than 6' causes the tent canvas roof to sag and reduces the snow load carrying capacity. It should be noted that a 3 rafter frame has only one rafter in the middle of the tent supporting the roof. A 4 rafter frame has 2 rafters in the tent roof middle area supporting the roof. Thus, twice the roof support.
